News » What Is Refcom?
Refcom is the Register of Companies Competent to Manage Refrigerants. Refcom actively encourages companies to operate in line with industry best practices to make them as environmentally aware as possible whilst making sure they are compliant with all the relevant legislation. The body also makes sure all employees are adequately trained so that they can carry out their job safely & to a high standard.
Refcom was set up back in 1994 in answer to refrigerant damage caused by some dangerous fluorinated gases. The gases in question were so harmful to the environment that they posed more of a risk to global warming factors & the environment than CO2 does. As of June 2009, Refcom certification is now commissioned under the Fluorinated Greenhouse Gases Register No 261 by the Secretary of State for Environmental, Food and Rural Affairs to operate as the official industry certification body. Under separate regulations Refcom also acts in the same role for the Department of Environment in Northern Ireland.comments powered by Disqus
