Refcom
Refcom is the Register of Companies Competent to Manage Refrigerants set up in 1994 in response to refrigerant damage caused by some fluronated gases which posed more risk to global warming factors & the environment than CO2 does
Refcom encourages companies to operate in line with industry best practices in order to be environmentally aware, compliant with relevant legislation and to ensure all employees are trained to the the correct level in order to be able to safely carry out their jobs to a high standard. The high standards set by Refcom are recognised by ACRIB (Air-conditioning and Refrigeration Industry Board), and the RAC industry.
As of June 2009, Refcom certification is now commissioned under the Fluronated Greenhouse Gases Register No 261 by the Secretary of State for Environmental, Food and Rural Affairs to operate as the official industry certification body. Under separate regulations Refcom also acts in the same role for the Department of Environment in Northern Ireland.
